"Climate Medicine: Tackling the Health Consequences of Climate Change"
Presenter: Marianne Marchese, ND
Original Date: February 1 2025
The next generation of doctors needs to be ready for a world where climate change makes practicing medicine more challenging. There has been an increase in hurricanes, atmospheric rivers, wildfires, drought, heat domes, and rising sea and ocean temperatures. This brings disease and health concerns never seen in certain regions of the U. S. Climate Medicine is an emerging area of focus and specialization dedicated to treating the health effects of climate change. It’s essential that health care providers understand how climate change will impact their clinical practice and patient care. Dr Marchese will describe global warming’s effects on various health conditions. She will help practitioners identify who is at risk, what signs and symptoms to look for, how to work up a patient and offer and treatments.
