Seasonal Eating: Exploring the Economic, Cultural, and Health Benefits Through Chinese Medicine

Presenter: Ellen Goldsmith, LAc
Original Date: May 4, 2025

The problem: Our connection with our nourishment from the earth has been fractured and along with it our health, local food economies, food sovereignty and a sense of belonging to nature. Technology and industrialization of the food system has abused the earth and climate change threatens our health, soil, water and food supply.

Chinese medicine is the oldest continually practiced system of medicine in the world. It is holistic and based upon the human being’s capacity to remain healthy, self-regulate and live-in balance with one’s environment. How can we learn from Chinese medicine’s approach to healthful eating to bring balance to ourselves and our environment?
