A food as medicine nutritionist dually certified in project and change management was identified to develop and lead a 10-week CSA pilot for a large historic African American church. The main goals assigned by church leadership was parishioner involvement and program sustainability year over year regardless of who leads the program. A planning team was formed to help develop a culturally relevant CSA program for the church. Specifically, the planning team established governance, program policies and procedures, an education and communication plan, and a feedback loop to measure program success. Five success metrics were set during the planning phase: 1) Efficient weekly Sunday pick-up process, 2) Adequate volunteers for 10 consecutive weeks, 3) Favorable community feedback, 4) Favorable impact on community, and 5) Able to pivot with unexpected changes in weather / other events and maintain efficiency
