This lecture will explore the relationship between autoimmune disorders and chronic pain. It will focus on the development of centralized pain syndromes and the distinction between peripheral and structural pain versus centrally mediated pain, as well as the commonly associated constellation of symptoms. During this lecture standard diagnosis as well as clinical diagnosis will be discussed in context to chronic pain utilizing phenotypical differentiations for central pain syndromes. A comprehensive approach to treatment will be reviewed inclusive of both standard of care, naturopathic and experimental interventions.
