Therapies can be systematically compared on the basis of benefit, safety, economy and evidence. This presentation shows how to do that using ordinal scaling instruments that help place diverse therapies on a common therapeutic continuum. The presentation then demonstrates the use of the therapeutic continuum in a hypothetical case study of irritable bowel disease in which the pharmacology of several contemporary drugs is presented. The presenter engages the viewer in using an ordinal scaling instrument to place these drugs and other more holistic therapies on a therapeutic continuum for the treatment of the presented case of irritable bowel disease.
