The Homeopathic Pharmacopeia and the Regulatory Framework

Presenter: Eric Foxman, RPh

Original Date: March 20, 2016

In this course, Foxman provides an overview of the regulatory framework and the roles the FDA, the FTC, and state Licensing Boards play in the practitioners use of homeopathic drug products. He also reviews the uncommon role the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia plays in the regulatory framework for homeopathic medicines. Viewers get a glimpse inside the HPUS and see what kind of information it contains and how any useful details affect the practice of homeopathic medicines.

Finally, Foxman addresses some of the issues that practitioners need to be aware of regarding homeopathic drug products (e.g. OTC attenuations, nosodes, imprinting, compounding) as well as quality concerns that should influence your choices of recommended product lines for your patients to use. If you have ever considered a private label line or stocking products in your practice, these are all matters of great importance that are all too often ignored at the risk of putting poor quality products in your patients’ hands.
