Depression in the elderly is a special category of mood disorder that clinicians may address with nutrients and botanical agents that are specific for the situation. Somewhat different from lifelong depressive states, depression that begins in elder years may poor circulation in the brain, neurotransmitter decline, and situational and social changes. This presentation will offer folkloric and modern molecular research on herbs and several nutraceutical agents noted to be helpful in this specific population.
