Complementary health approaches like acupuncture on the day of embryo transfer are frequently integrated into In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) cycles. Women may seek an acupuncturist’s care earlier in the IVF cycle process in an effort to improve their outcomes. Patient will often receive a multi-modal treatment called Whole Systems Traditional Chinese Medicine (WS-TCM) that can include acupuncture, diet and lifestyle counseling, Chinese herbs, and nutritional supplements. The impact of this complex intervention on IVF birth outcomes is not well understood. This course will present an overview of the current research on WS-TCM as as an adjuvant to assisted reproduction cycles like fresh, non-donor and donor cycles.
