The Paradox of Weight Gain: How Gaining Weight Makes Us Fat

Presenter: Serena Goldstein, ND

Original Date: April 13, 2019

Our endocrine system is pretty tightly regulated, and comprised of multiple organs with multiple signals to keep everything balanced. However, fat cells are their own organ system that tends to interrupt these signals in such a way that can manifest as weight gain, as well as other hormonal based concerns that also pose an uphill battle to not only losing weight, but also maintaining weight loss goals through an optimal functioning metabolism. This presentation will discuss the different types of hormone imbalances that affect weight gain especially as we age, how to motivate the patient to create change, and various Naturopathic therapies to address the pathophysiology of weight gain and the root cause of disease.
